Today I gently placed a headdress of black callas on Anjelica Huston for a photoshoot. Do I even need to continue? She kissed BOTH my cheeks and told me she wished she had a place to wear it that night. If the Mayan calendar is correct, I will at least feel good about what I've accomplished here. If it isn't correct, yay, I'm going to LA for New Years!
Earlier in the fall Jen Causey visited the studio to take some photos and do an interview for her amazing site The Makers. I think that this is likely your first real peek into my workspace (why oh why did it take 10 months?) and I'm really excited to show you. Remember when "I prayed for a huge, prewar industrial loft to make messes in"? I finally got it.

There are lots more photos on her site and also an interview about my background and creative process. Please go have a look! I'm planning on having a little open studio and holiday wreath sale after my class this Saturday the 15th here, and would like nothing more than to see your smiling face. Please mark your calendars and stay tuned for updates. Until then, kisses from Anjelica.

I am so glad your dream of a loft came true. It looks like a wonderful place to create magic, the natural lighting is terrific.
ReplyDeleteAnjelica is one of my living heroes. Oh, I'm so jealous! And happy for you and your successes.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a loft to put my trapeze in, so I'm also jealous of your gorgeous work space!

ReplyDeleteGreat photos!!!
ReplyDeleteoh, gosh. I have spent two days drinking up your blog, your stories, your flowers. In love. Thank you for it. I am just starting to dip my toes into the blogging pool, and although I am sure I cannot afford the type of camera you are using now, would you have any other recommendations for others you have used in the past? Maybe more affordable than a Canon 5D? I just can't stand the beauty of your pictures, and I wish to capture my world in similar ways. xx
ReplyDeleteThe canon rebel series is good! Skip the kit lens and get a 50mm 1.4 lens instead. The lens makes a world of difference. Learning to shoot on AV mode will help a lot, too.
DeleteAmy, sheesh. I never tire of seeing little glimpses into your space and creativity. I will just hope one day to visit in the flesh.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful space!
ReplyDeleteAmen to the Canon Rebel - it's changed my life. And your space... it makes me want to weep! There's something about old, about patina, about spirit that lingers in a place, that I can't absorb deeply enough - I always want more.
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful place. Great choice. I love the distressed walls, the light, the natural/wooden furniture, and your flowers are always a bliss.
